Conan

Date: Sunday May 21st, 2017
Venue: the Garrison in Toronto, Ontario
T-shirt worn: Gas Chamber
Yeti on Horseback were supposed to open the show tonight but they suffered a very unfortunate accident earlier on in the weekend that left one member unable to make the show causing them to cancel. I wish them the speediest of recovery.
We got to the venue with just enough time to grab a beer then North went on five minutes earlier than advertised. They weren’t too bad. They reminded me of Old Man Gloom, a style of stone/sludge I don’t really like. But their melodic guitar work was actually really good.
I saw Conan last March and was blown away. So I jumped at the chance to see them live again. They were…fucking awesome. It helped that I was more familiar with their material this time around, having heard their 2016 release Reveneance. But even the stuff I didn’t recognize was fucking awesome. This may have been the loudest, heaviest show I’ve been to in my life. And I’ve been to a lot of shows. Their normal bassist made it to this tour and he is fucking awesome to watch on stage. The whole band was awesome. Loud as fuck and awesome. What more do I need to say?

This concludes a run of four shows in four days for me (Bush on Thursday, Windhand on Friday, Adult. on Saturday and Conan on Sunday). My ears are surprisingly fine right now (they weren’t right after Conan tonight) and every more surprising is I’m not “burnt out”. My wife is mad at me but when is she never NOT mad at me. Next show isn’t for…TWO WEEKS! And that’s if Taake can get their VISA issues sorted out and their entire tour isn’t cancelled. Oh, I do have a wrestling show next weekend. So if you’re looking for me I’ll be at the Ministry of the Attorney General getting served divorce papers.
