Ring of Honor "Final Battle 2014"
December 7th, 2014
From Terminal 5 in New York City, New York
Commentators: Kevin Kelly, Nigel McGuinness and Steve Corino
It's Ring of Honors biggest show of the year! 2014 was a big year for Ring of Honor (they had their first pay per view, they welcomed AJ Styles back, they said goodbye to Kevin Steen) and tonight is the culmination of all of it. Tonight Jay Briscoe defends the Ring of Honor World Championship against some guy who used to work there named Adam Cole in a Fight Without Honor and Michael Elgin faces Tommaso Ciampa.
4-Corner Survival Match
Mark Briscoe vs. Caprice Coleman vs. Jimmy Jacobs w/BJ Whitmer vs. Hanson
This wasn't too bad a match. Nothing spectacular, really. All the guys had their moments and impressed. Except Jimmy Jacobs. He just had silly hair.
Winner: Hanson
Recap of Adam Page's time with the Decade and Roderick Strong.
Jimmy Jacob and BJ Whitmer are still in the ring. They say tonight is Adam Page's night to take his spot as a full-fledged member of the Decade.
Adam Page w/Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer vs. Roderick Strong
This was a good match. I've warmed to Adam Page as of late. When he has to put his body on the line he will. The finish was interesting with Page passing out in the Strong Hold.
Winner: Roderick Strong via referee stoppage
Afterwards Jimmy Jacobs accepts Adam Page into the Decade and BJ Whitmer gets into it with Steve Corino.
Recap of Michael Elgin and Tommaso Ciampas issues with one another.
Michael Elgin vs. Tommaso Ciampa
This was a solid match. I think the two wanted to kill each other and held back. And Michael Elgin as a heel? Nah.
Winner: Michael Elgin
The Addiction & Cedric Alexander vs. the Young Bucks & ACH
This wasn't the best Young Bucks match but it was still fun. I got very sad at Kazarians hair. He was trying to grow it out but it was so thin. I'm sure nuzzling what's her names breasts is some condolence.
Winners: the Young Bucks & ACH
Recap of RD Evans and his streak and Stokely Hathaway's part in betraying him alongside Moose and ending it.
Moose w/Stokely Hathaway and Prince Nana vs. RD Evans w/Veda Scott
If you Google "fucking terrible wrestling match" you're likely to get this one. It wasn't Rebel verses Shelly Martinez bad but it was bad. It went way to long too. Veda cost Evans the match, for what it's worth.
Winner: Moose
Recap of Matt Sydal and his issues with the House of Truth.
For the Ring of Honor Television Championship
Matt Sydal vs. Jay Lethal (champion) w/Truth Martini and J. Diesel
That last March really took the crowd and me out of it. This was still a good match but...whatever. The finish was interesting.
Winner: Jay Lethal
For the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships
The Time Splitters vs. reDRagon (champions)
This was a good match that was able to get the crowd back into the show. The best part was when Kushida kicked that stupid mouthpiece out of O’Reilys mouth.
Winners: reDRagon
Recap of Jay Briscoe and Adam Coles past history. This match needs to be off the hook.
Fight Without Honor for the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Adam Cole vs. Jay Briscoe (champion)
This match started out really strong but they did a lot of stuff too early (stapler, kendo stick). By the middle it got kind of boring. But then the tacks came out...and went into Jays mouth...then Coles bum. It was an okay brawl but the athletic commission coming out midway to stop Coles bleeding really pissed me off. It defeated the point of a Fight Without Honor.
Winner: Jay Briscoe

Really, not a good show at all. It started out stronger than most but that RD Evans match just sucked the life out of everything. The following matches were all “good enough”…but not good enough. The crowd was really out of it for the entire show too, which hindered things.
Very different camerawork in this one. It was almost filmed documentary style. The filtering was different and the cameras were at a much higher angle than usual. But it was a strangely shaped venue. I wasn't a fan. The ring wasn't mic'd very well either. I like a little bit of talking from the wrestlers and there was none.
It was kind of sad seeing them mourn Kevin Steen leaving Ring of Honor during the intro video...but look at this card and who they've lost in the short two years since:
ACH: I’m not sure if he’s still under a Ring of Honor contract but I think he’s gone
Adam Cole: no one knows for sure but I think we all know
Bobby Fish: may or may not still be with Ring of Honor, no one seems to be sure
Cedric Alexander: WWE
Jimmy Jacobs: WWE writer
Kevin Kelly: was released, but comes back to do commentary all the time
Kyle O’Reilly: not sure, but not with Ring of Honor
Michael Elgin: not sure his status, does more work for Indies and NJPW
Moose: made the mistake of signing with TNA
Nigel McGuinness: works for WWE as a commentator or something
RD Evans: I’ve heard he’s a WWE writer now
Roderick Strong: WWE
Steve Corino: WWE trainer
Stokely Hathaway: I saw him working an Indy in Southern Ontario a few months ago
Tommaso Ciampa: WWE
Truth Martini: gone
Veda Scott: gone
DVD Bonus Features:
Nigel McGuinness presents a Lifetime Achievement Award to Cary Silkin.
Brutal Burgers vs. BJ Whitmer & Mikey Webb
If you Google "dark match" you're likely to get this match. I love Brutal Bob though
Winners: Brutal Burgers
Afterwards Whitmer takes Webb out and tells him he has failed at gaining admission into the Decade.
Pass.
