Just my quick thoughts on PWG's show, "Game Over, Man". Oddly enough, this got a higher score than "Head Like a Cole", which I'll do next (watched it last night), but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much.
Singles Match
Lio Rush vs. Rey Fenix
- This was a decent opener. It had the flips and the spots, but a lot of it felt really awkward and off beat. At about 3/4 through the match things just felt super disjointed at times, but the finish was pretty nasty, so that made up for it. Kinda odd since I've seen both guys in some phenomenal matches, but I think having this as the opener wasn't a good call, and the second match should have been the opener.
Singles Match
Adam Cole vs. Matthew Riddle
- This was the match of the night for me. It had that PWG comedy, but also some REALLY GOOD wrestling. I haven't been too big on Matt Riddle. He's good, especially given his short run he's had as a pro wrestler, but I just never saw it that everyone goes crazy over, this match opened my eyes toward him though. Some really good mat wrestling, and even better strikes. Riddle's overhead chops are VICIOUS, and Adam Cole, who people like as a character but some times not so much as a wrestler, had a GREAT showing in this. Definitely one of the best matches I've seen from both guys, the chemistry was just there.
Singles Match
Jeff Cobb vs. Keith Lee
Man... I still don't get the hype for Keith Lee. His match on the next show was better than this, but everything just feels like its in slow motion with him.
-- Do some moves
-- Stop and taunt
-- Say something again
-- Do some more moves
-- Taunt again
It's like a really cheap guy playing a wrestling game where taunting builds up your special meter. Cobb looked amazing in this though. He was lifting and throwing Lee around like he was a little boy. Just wish the pacing had been better.
Singles Match
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Michael Elgin
- I like both guys, but this match just came and went for me. It was a really good match with some great spots, but I feel like I've seen it a lot and ready for something different. Nothing really memorable.
Tag Team Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. War Machine (Hanson & Ray Rowe)
- War Machine is so over in PWG, hope to see them there some more. This was a really fun match between both teams. I feel like I just saw this match up recently, but it still felt fresh and exciting. A lot of comedy, and fun spots. Meltzer gave it 4.25 stars... thats definitely a bit much, but it was fun.
Non Title Match
Dick Togo vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
- Damn! Dick can still go! This was a really good match with some really awesome holds, I just wish it was a biiiiiit shorter. There's probably a good 5-10 minutes they could have easily shaved off, but still good all around. It's weird to think that Togo was in Kaientai in WWF. I don't remember much of him back then, but it's obvious he wasn't able to do all he is capable of doing and was held back as a jobber.
Street Fight
Chuck Taylor vs. Marty Scurll
- REALLY FUN MATCH!!!! Oh man, the thumbtack spot at the end... that was so brutal! Loved it. Really well put together for a street fight with smart moves and well placed spots. Really all I can say about it. Fun match.
So yeah, that's my quick write up. It was a fun show, but some of the matches were dragged out too long in my opinion or just didn't really hit me that hard.
