Now time for my write up for PWG's "Head Like a Cole". I was super tired last night and decided to put it on and relax. This show was Adam Cole's final PWG show, at least for now, since everyone is thinking he will be heading to WWE/NXT in the near future.
Singles Match
Keith Lee vs. Trevor Lee
- As I've said in my previous reviews, I just don't care for Keith Lee, but this match was actually REALLY good, and I blame Trevor Lee for that in this Lee vs Lee match. There was some good pacing, and not too much of Keith Lee stopping and slowly taunting his opponent. At one point in the beginning Trevor Lee was even "basking in Keith Lee's glory", which was hilarious. Overall really solid opener with good action.
Tag Team Match
reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly) vs. The Chosen Bros (Jeff Cobb & Matthew Riddle)
- I am really debating on putting this on my MOTY list. This was a hell of a tag team contest! So many phenomenal double team spots, Cobb throwing guys around, and Riddle once again looking really good. Maybe I just needed that one REALLY FUN match he had at the last show with Adam Cole to really open my eyes to the guy. Bobby Fish got busted open pretty good near the end it looked NASTY, but he kept it together and they finished the match.
Singles Match
Michael Elgin vs. Shane Strickland
- Overall solid match between two guys that are completely opposite from each other. The second half got a bit discombobulated, but this was a fun showing from both guys. It's odd seeing Strickland in DEFY and who he is there and how over he is, to PWG, where he is pretty over still, but feels like a new face and the crowd not knowing how to react to him.
Singles Match
Adam Cole vs. Sami Callihan
- GREAT final bout for Adam Cole here. It basically turned into a No DQ match with some insanely-goddamn-holy-fucking-shit chair spots near the end. It was kind of "poetic" that Sami Callihan had his final PWG match with Adam Cole before going to NXT (ugh... what a waste), and now Cole is having his final with Sami before most likely heading there too. Great match overall. Cole and Sami attempted to shake hands at the end, but Sami spat in his hand and Cole just turned around and left.
Singles Match
Lio Rush vs. Mark Haskins
- Decent match here. Nothing overwhelmingly awesome, but great viciousness from both guys. Mark Haskins is still a new face to me, so I am not sure what to expect when I see him (only other time I've watched him wrestle was at PWG's BOLA 2016 tournament).
PWG World Tag Team Title Match
Penta el 0M & Rey Fenix (c) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson)
- This was a really fun match. It definitely wasn't as awkward as the Triple Threat title match from a couple shows back where the Lucha Bros won the titles, and it was even more fun that they turned it into a Texas Tornado Spot Fest . Tons of dives and crazy spots, and that damn finisher the Lucha Bros did was BRUTAL.
PWG World Title Match
Zack Sabre Jr. (c) vs. Trent
- Really cool match. Trent has really been breaking out over the last year or two and becoming such a great worker in the ring. The match felt a bit on the long side, especially in the final stretch, but overall really unexpectedly good match, where it honestly felt like Trent was going to pick up the win at multiple pinfalls.
Yay, good show. I'd highly recommend checking this one out, ESPECIALLY both tag team matches, Cole vs Sami, and the main event.
