No setlists for this show unless I find something somewhere else online. I went in to this show hearing a grand total of one song from one of the bands beforehand (Orchard by Windhand) and I’ve had so much luck going in to shows completely blind to the bands I’m seeing this year that I wanted to do it again.
It sucked that doors were so late for this show but I’m at a point in my life where I could care a less. The Garrison is actually a really nice club. I’ve never been there but it was pretty much the perfect size, the bartender had a great ass, the sound was really good, the stage was a really good height and there were lots of bathrooms. I would have zero issues with going to a show there again some day. I been putting on a lot of shows all of sudden so it’s likely that I will.
The first band was a local band called Familiars who played a really solid brand of heavier stoner rock. They had some really awesome riffs and were better when they played a little slower. Their vocals were used very sparingly and weren’t really that great. But since they were so infrequent it was just a nice added touch to their awesome riffs. The only problem with their set was it was a little too quiet for my taste.
Olde came on shortly afterwards. I missed them opening for Ufomammut a few months ago and really wanted to check them out. They lived up to their name. The members were all…pretty old. But they were actually really, really good. They were a little faster than all the other bands tonight playing a style reminiscent of a more riff-orientated Motorhead. I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately their singer said it was the “last show”. I didn’t catch if he said afterwards “for a while” or “with their one guitarist”. He said something but I couldn’t make it out. Too bad if it was their last show because they were really good.
Windhand epitomized “the riff”.
Seriously, those guys were so heavy and hypnotic. Their riffs and guitar tone were just insane. The vocals I could have done without they just got in the way and were really low in the mix. And those riffs were so awesome I could just listen to them over and over and over (which was most of their set). I could’ve done without the solos too because there was such a cacophony of noise that I could barely make them out anyway. They played for well over an hour and they maybe only played…twenty different riffs. But they were so awesome. And in between songs they just let the shrill, deafening feedback ring out. It was fucking awesome. Again, I know nothing of what they played except I know they opened with Orchard.
Overall all three bands were awesome and this was one of the better shows I’ve seen in my life.

I've since bought a couple of Windhands albums and they're cool but don't come close to matching the intensity of their live show. I saw them again a couple of months ago and they were missing a guitarist, which really let me down. They were still good but they need to guitarists for that sonic overload.
I don't know if OLDE broke up or not. I think I've seen their name on a poster once since.
Familiars played a show last week that I was thinking of going to but couldn't make it out to.
