ETID toured with Tacking Back Sunday this summer. Pretty sweet combo but having seen Tacking Back Sunday and ETID plenty of times, I was cool skipping the tour. BUT then I saw ETID post a off date at the Constellation Room. A small, no barricade hardcore meant venue. Similar to the famous Chain Reaction but wider. Saw ETID at Chain but I was ill as hell, thus played the show safe. Well here was my Take II.
Leading up to the headliner I was curios about the openers. Well, day of I get a text from my homie that it will be no openers, 2 ETID Sets! Hell yeah!
Gig was sold out and packed once me and my friend got there. Found a good spot and waited for the mayhem. Look I had work the next day, Monday, so I was going to feel out the first set and see what was up. Every Time I Die came out and busted some pretty heavy songs. Crowd was somewhat hyped but felt tame. Some pitting, some crowdsurfers but nothing overwhelming. I decided to keep it chill for the first set and simply sing, headbang and toss some karate kids around.
25 Minute Intermission and the crowd rejuvenated.
ETID came out and busted into a bonkers combo of No Son of Mine, The New Black, and Floater. What happened was nuts. Insane amount of hardcore kids going apeshit, climbing the stage, singing with Buckley, UFC fighter Josh Barnett onstage tossing folks (gals and dudes) WWE style into the crowd, stage dives from the band, lots of moshing. The energy was insane so obviously I took part. Set II was the hype I thought this gig would be and more. The energy kept up until the end. Keith Buckley stated multiple times this is why he plays this music, why he like intimate shows, and that the crowd really came alive after the intermission. After Kill the Music, the crowd erupted into "One More Set!" and "One More Song!" chants. But sadly ETID did not come out.
Great show all around and awesome that Every Time I Die played for essentially 1.5 to 2 hours. Overall, cool choice of songs even if Moor was cut and lack of Ex Lives and From Parts Unknown.
