Ring of Honor “Honor Invades Boston”
August 24th, 2002
From the Americal Civic Center in Wakefield, Massachusetts
Commentators: Donnie B and Steve Corino
Newly crowned Ring of Honor Champion Low Ki is proud to be Ring of Honor Champion. He respects AJ Styles and he's prepared to defend his title against him tonight in Boston.
Some total juice bags are waiting for something.
Only four minutes until wrestling starts tonight! Woo-Hoo!
Quite Storm vs. Amazing Red
This was a good enough match but it never really got going.
Winner: Amazing Red
Afterwards Special K rushes the ring and takes Amazing Red and Quite Storm out. It leads to an impromptu match with Special K against Amazing Red and Storms partners SAT and Chris Divine.
Tag Team Scramble Match
Special K w/Elax vs. SAT & Chris Divine
This was a really good high-flying spotfest.
Winners: the SAT & Chris Divine
After the match Chris Divine grabs the mic and asks for a match with Low Ki, he doesn't even care if it's for the Ring of Honor title. Low Ki comes out and we have another match.
Chris Divine vs. Low Ki
This doesn't even last a minute and I don't even see its point. Divine wasn't a heel so it's not like he was running his mouth and got comeuppance. If anything it made him look like an idiot.
Winner: Low Ki
Christopher Daniels informs the people watching on video he won't be at this show tonight because he's in Japan, but his group the Prophecy will be. He does say he’s going to destroy Ring of Honor when he returns.
Dunn & Marcos vs. Christopher Street Connection w/Allison Danger
You know what? I like the Christopher Street Connection. This was a squash but not a brutal squash. Christopher Street Connection are so over-the-top that they’re entertaining.
Winners: Christopher Street Connection
Mike Tobin w/Danny Drake vs. Scoot Andrews
This barely lasts two minutes. It wasn't a squash, it was just really short.
Winner: Scoot Andrews
Xavier comes out and asks Scoot Andrews for a rematch of the previous matches they’ve had.
Scoot Andrews vs. Xavier
This was better but still barely lasted five minutes. Can Scoot even go more than eight minutes?
Winner: Xavier
Earlier today Michael Shane and Bio-Hazard arrived at the arena.
Michael Shane w/Bio-Hazard vs. Paul London
This was a good enough match. The best thing was Steve Corino on commentary. He went into full heel/prick mode and some of the stuff he said about Rudy Boy Charles (who was ringside, as he trained both of these guys) was fucking hilarious.
Winner: Michael Shane
Afterwards Simply Luscious comes out and invites Michael Shane to join Christopher Daniels' Prophecy. Rudy Boy Charles tells them both to stick with him. Michael Shane Superkicks them both then further beats on Paul London.
Recap of the ending of Night of Appreciation with Spanky, Low Ki, American Dragon, Christopher Daniels and Donovan Morgan fighting.
American Dragon vs. Donovan Morgan
This match was okay. Donovan Morgan doesn't do much for me so I found myself not really caring. It was also a little to "elite purist" for me.
Winner: none, fifteen-minute time limit expires
Afterwards American Dragon asks for five more minutes but the ref won't allow it. He asks Donovan Morgan to shake his hand but gets a beating instead.
Da Hit Squad are ready for Carnage Crew tonight.
Footage of Carnage Crew beating up the ring crew before the show.
Boston Massacre Match
Carnage Crew vs. da Hit Squad
I won't lie: this wasn't very good, bordering on terrible. As far as hardcore brawls go it was pretty tame. There was barbed wire and some blood but it just wasn’t doing it for me.
Winners: da Hit Squad
Don Juan vs. Bio-Hazard w/Michael Shane
This was another less than three-minute match.
Winner: Bio-Hazard
Maverick Wild vs. Alex Arion
This was a pretty good dark match that somehow found its way into the second half of the show.
Winner: Alex Arion
James Maritato and Tony Mamaluke are backstage when Homicide and Boogaloo come in and ask them some advice on "shooting". Tony runs his mouth about the only shooting they know being the kind that happens in an alley.
Natural Born Sinners vs. James Maritato & Tony Mamaluke
This was a good match that the show really needed after the last few stinkers.
Winners: Natural Born Sinners
Recap of Mark Briscoe walking out on Jay last month during his match in the championship tournament. Afterwards Jay challenged him to a match at this show in Boston where Mark (who was only seventeen at the time) was allowed to wrestle.
Mark Briscoe vs. Jay Briscoe
Having watched some of these early Ring of Honor shows the last couple of weekends I must say: it was really weird watching Mark picking on Jay for losing so much. This was a really good fucking match. There's a reason these two are still in Ring of Honor while others faded into obscurity. They beat the hell out of one another as only brothers can. I was surprised by the ending though. Early Ring of Honor paints a different picture of Jay than the later stuff does.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
When they get backstage Mark runs his victory in Jays face.
For the Ring of Honor World Championship
AJ Styles vs. Low Ki (champion)
This was a good match but I enjoyed their previous match at Night of Appreciation more. They were hitting each other a lot harder in that match. And by the camera angle AJs shoulders clearly weren't down...again.
Winner: Low Ki
Xavier meets Low Ki as he makes his way to the lockerroom and asks for a title shot on September 21st.
Michael Shane looks into the camera and tells Rudy Charles to stop riding his coattails and the Prophecy he doesn't need them either. He calls Spanky out too.
Dunn and Marcos try to cut a promo when the camera pans to Carnage Crew attacking da Hit Squad as they leave the arena. This was actually pretty funny because Dunn and Marcos tried to start their promo three times but the camera kept panning off of them.

This really wasn’t that great a show. A couple matches were really good (the Tag Team Scramble match and the Briscoes match) and a couple were good but there was a lot that really did nothing for me. To many of the matches were just so damn short that it had me thinking Vince Russo was booking this show. Like, there were fourteen matches on this show when you include the impromptu matches and I think that’s way too much for a three-hour show.
The camera work wasn’t very good either. It was all filmed by one cameraman standing ringside. He did a good job of catching all the action but it was to gonzo and shaky and a lot was probably missed, especially in the multi-man matches. The Boston Massacre especially really needed multiple cameras to work. There was another guy filming but they only used his stuff for reverse angle shots of big moves. I don’t mind the ringside stuff but I need a hard camera showing the whole ring.
