I haven’t been to an arena show in a while. I think the last one was Motley Crue at the same venue almost two years ago. My wife wanted to go see this one and we bought tickets back in December (I think). They were typically overpriced; a hundred dollars each for third row of the upper deck.

We showed up just as some DJ was finishing up playing popular hits. Bruno Mars went on a little passed 9:15pm. His first few songs were really good but once he played Calling All My Lovelies things simmered down. It never really hit high gear again after that. The more upbeat songs got people moving but then there was a piano solo that really turned things down again. After that he dropped the newer songs and went into the hits but none of them were really firing. The live version of Grenades was really flat. Just the Way You Are was good and the show should have ended there. The two encores were two of his biggest hits but it just wasn’t working. I mean, I didn’t really care either way but the fan reactions just weren’t as "there" as they could’ve been. My wife still had fun and I’d never see him again but he was good.
