Ring of Honor TV Taping

Silas Young and the Beer City Bruiser started off the tapings cutting a promo calling the Hung Bucks out to defend their Six Man titles against them and announced their partner would be Minoru Suzuki.
For the Ring of Honor World Television Championship
Josh Woods vs. Kenny King (champion)
This was an okay match. Josh Woods looked too “MMA” for me. Then I remembered that he was Josh “the Goods” Woods. I don’t know if I’ve seen him fight in UFC before, if I heard him mentioned on Sirius XM Rush or if I just knew that name from when they announced his signing this past summer. As for Kenny, I still don’t really care. But they weren’t really playing the Bachelorette crap, at least to the live crowd. The night before at Death Before Dishonor XV they had some ladies handing him roses as he made his entrance.
Winner: Kenny King
Afterwards Kenny announced that he would be a fighting champion. Shane Taylor, Chucky T, Punishment Martinez and Mark Briscoe all answered the call and a number one contenders match was announced for later in the show.
Jay Briscoe came out to cut a promo on Bully Ray but Tommy Dreamer came out and chastised him for his actions last night at Death Before Dishonor. He told him Bully Ray spent the night in the hospital and was in worse shape than he'd ever seen him.
Scorpio Sky vs. Kushida
This was a decent match. For whatever reason the Addiction came out and attacked Kushida but Jay Lethal came out to the rescue. A Tag Team match between the Addiction and Lethal and Kushida was announced for later on.
Winner: no contest
The Bullet Club all came out and Cody signed an exclusive Ring of Honor contract. He announced he would then be defending his Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship against one of the most popular talents in Ring of Honor RIGHT NOW. The crowd rabidly changed for Dalton Castle but instead...
For the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Cody (champion) vs. Cheeseburger
It was a lie to ones self to think Cheeseburger had a chance but it was fun to pretend for a moment.
Winner: Cody
Bully Ray came out to cut a promo announcing that he was really hurt after Death Before Dishonor and that he was seriously considering retirement.
The Kingdom vs. Search and Destroy
I had to go to the bathroom during this match but my wife told me it was pretty good.
Winners: the Kingdom
Marty Scrull vs. Jay White
This was a good match. There were a few moments that I thought Jay was actually going to pull it off.
Winner: Marty Scrull
Rhett Titus & Will Ferrerea vs. Tempura Boyz
This was the dark match before Death Before Dishonor and it did nothing for me then. Honestly the funniest part of this match was Will Ferrerea was wearing white tights and he sharted during this match. So watching some guys in the crowd haze him with paper towel was hilarious. Once that happened the match was “over”. Not literally. It was just done after that. I think his team with Rhett may have a name like "Dogs" or something.
Winners: Rhett Titus & Will Ferrerea
Caprice Colman joined the commentary table.
To determine the number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Television Championship
Shane Taylor vs. Chucky T vs. Punishment Martinez vs. Mark Briscoe
This was a fun, high-energy match. It started off with some Tag Team-ish rules but that all fell apart quickly. Despite Mark Briscoe being in the match my wife and I were rooting for Punishment Martinez. If no one else is going to it may as well be us.
Winner: Mark Briscoe (new number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Television Championship)
Afterwards Jay Briscoe came out and gave Mark the evil-eye.
[intermission]
Brandi Rhodes joined the commentary team.
Stella Gray vs. Kelly Klein
This was a decent match.
Winner: Kelly Klein
Afterwards Scarlet Bordeaux came out and mentioned tagging with Kelly Klein at some upcoming tournament whether or not either liked it.
Cody joined the commentary team.
TK O'Ryan w/the Kingdom vs. Jonathan Grisham
This was an okay match.
Winner: Jonathan Grisham via DQ
For the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Cody (champion) vs. Scorpio Sky
This was another match where it was nice to fool yourself for a moment, but really?
Winner: Cody
The Addiction vs. Kushida & Jay Lethal
This match was good. It was nothing crazy but it was probably the best match of the night. When is Jay Lethal not in the best match of the night?
Winners: Kushida & Jay Lethal
For the Ring of Honor World Six Man Tag Team Championships
Silas Young, the Beer City Bruiser & Minoru Suzuki vs. the Hung Bucks (champions)
This was as fun a match as a Young Bucks match ever is but it was far from the best match I've seen from them. I was at least more entertained by Minoru Suzuki, which wasn't hard after him and Cody shit the bed at Death Before Dishonor the previous night.
Winners: the Hung Bucks
Afterwards Silas and the Bruiser blamed Minoru Suzuki for losing the match for them, so he punched them both out and announced he would be back.

This was a syndicated TV taping so as expected it was far from the best wrestling show ever. I don't think there was a single match I'd really care to see again. But we had a lot of fun. That's what's most important.
I can't help but ask where Dalton Castle was tonight? He's the biggest homegrown talent Ring of Honor has right now (by "home-grown" I mean not rooted in NJPW) and he was seriously missed tonight. This show should have been building to Final Battle in December and by the crowd reaction tonight he should be getting a title shot at that show, but it didn't feel like it. I guess there will be another block of tapings between now and then? Because it seemed like Cody’s going to continue his open challenges and I think their biggest show of the year needs a better build than a Japanese guy people pretend they've heard of.
The structuring of this taping was a bit all over the place. The last two matches were main events so I’d imagine they’ll cut and paste them onto the end of episodes. And unlike the other TV taping I saw last May there were only two times Bobby Cruiser told us to get up and act crazy, at the beginning of the show and then before the Marty Scrull match. I’d imagine that another episode would’ve started after the womens match but there was no “GET UP AND GET EXCITED!!!!”.
It was very funny before the second Cody match that they put Halloween decorations on the announce table. So I guess these are airing in October.
The crowd was sadly a lot smaller tonight than it was at Death Before Dishonor. That was a sell-out. This was probably sixty to seventy percent sold. In fact, the row in front of us (the front row) had seven seats in a row all empty. So during the first match myself, my wife and three other people moved into them. We were able to stay there untouched all night. That made things infinitely more fun. We started a ton of chants. My wife and the guy beside her started the “DALTON CASTLE” chant when Cody was doing his promo. I started an “IAN” chant when one of Colt Cabanas chants was dying down, because I felt bad for Ian Riccaboni. We started a few more but I can’t remember right now. There were maybe fifty people there during the dark match so I know we started a few then.
Dark Match
Benny Lemons vs. Jay Alton vs. Shaheem Ali
I'm not sure if these are a couple of the guys real names. I know the lemon guy brought lemons with him to the ring and squeezed the juice into his mouth to get a needed boost at the climax of the match. It was a typical "who?" match but it was fun because we were already pretty drunk by that point. I kinda wish I remembered who won.
It was sad that there weren’t too many people there for this show. But at the same time it made it more intimate and a lot more fun. I can’t wait to see Ring of Honor again in Buffalo next month and we’re thinking we may hit Vegas again if the Anniversary Show is there in March, or whenever they go back to Vegas.
I noticed halfway through the show that I hadn't been taking any pictures, so I took one during the Television title number one contenders match:
