Here is a detailed breakdown of my LIVE PCW DEMONIZED attendance.
-PCW is a SoCal indy promotion that is getting loads of noise lately. Honestly, with the talent they book and cards they are going to compete with PWG. Current champs include Johnny Mundo, Douglas James, and Warbeast. They operate in a ghetto ass location in Wilmington CA in a Memorial Hall.
-Location: It was like little Mexican man. Run down and smelled funny. Parking was free street parking in a lit area at least.
-Venue: The Memorial Hall was actually nice. Perfect view wherever you sat and the row seating worked out fine. Pretty much the earlier you got the better spot you took. They also had loads of cheap beer, aguas frescas (Mexican juices), chips, chopped fruit, hot dogs and some tasty looking tacos for sale. AC, clean restrooms, great lighting. I was very impressed with the venue.
-My seats: Look I took pictures and they were okay so I aint going to post them. Found Groupon tix for $60 bucks for 2 that were 4th row, a free tee, and a free poster what a damn steal.
-The Crowd: Typical rowdy crowd with some fun chants. Super into it first half but died down second half. More on that later. Some super wasted guys near me and my chica that were hilarious at first but then I was ready to punch them in the face by the end. BUT rest of the folks around us were super chill and cool.
Now for the damn card!
-FLIP GORDON V JAY WHITE: 7/10 : Nice back and forth match with technical wrestling and some high flying from Flip. I was all into White but crowd liked Flip cause he was flashy. Solid opener. Flip went over via 450.
-HAMMERSTONE V Chris Bey: 6/10: Single H vs Small black guy. Both unknowns to me were okay. Hammerstone is a roided bacne HHH look alike while Bey was some lil guy. Pretty much a squash with Bey winning via DQ and Hammerstone saying he will beat up people until he gets real competition.
-FATU V JEFF COBB V WILLIE MACK: 8/10: Matched was changed last second with Fatu replacing Brody King and Mack making surprise appearance. Started as basic triple threat with one guy in and out but then turned into a hoss fight for final stretch. Got bonkers with suplexes, some big guy moonsaults and Mack tearing it up with his flashier moves. Dude did some crazy flip cannon ball that had crowd lose it. Fatu picked up the win with his managers assitance. Good stuff.
-Penta El Zero M, Rey Fenix, & Daga V Sami Callihan, Dave Crist, & Eli Everfly: 9/10: Everfly replaced other OI4K member due to no show or injury I am not sure. But Eli was small crazy cruiser that did some sweet flashy stuff. This match was straight chaos from beginning until the end. Lots of movement and lucha moves with stiff nasty shots. Some weapons such as buckets and chairs came into play. All the wrestlers fought outside the ring into the crowd. Then the dopest thing happened. Eli got thrown right in front of me and my chica and the crowd started moving. Fenix started charging and did a dive right into Eli, had to grab my chica to miss getting hit. That whole section and myself lost our minds with Lucha!, PCW! ANIMALE! chants. Finish came shortly with Penta hitting a package piledriver on a stack of chairs to Sami. MOTN and MOTYC for me. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MAIN EVENT! Fans throw money into the crowd and Penta said thank you bunch. Really nice moment to see live. Now I see while Meltzer is Young Bucks fangirl when he seems they in PWG every time. I would have a strong bias as well. Penta gets a shot at PCW for being Team Cap.
-INTERMISSION: Sweeper cleaned the ring and crowd chanted SWEEP! SWEEEP! S-W-E-E-P! via Delete form. Not sure why there was an intermission cause pose 6 Man match was like 20 mins. K
-Sandman/Masada V Warbeast (Josef/Brody King) Tag Belts UTTER GARBAGE/10: Terry Funk came out to cut a promo then Warbeast came out. Fire Breather gal that Johnny knows was with them. Then ENTER SANDMAN CAME ON AND CROWD STARTED SINGING! I look to my right and was like HOLY CRAP! ECW!ECW! My chica was like who is the trailer trash old man coming out with cigs and beer!!! Anyways this match sucked. Awful brawling with crappy weapon use blood some chopsticks and nails being used and Funk blading. It was the crappy side of ECW that folks flocked to and yeah it is crap especially live. It was rather sad but crowd dug it minus the no contest ended. Please none of this pornography anymore. It went like 25 mins.
-Shane Strickland (KILLSHOT) V Douglass James Cruiser Title: 6.5/10: Knew to James but he wrestler a rather lifeless style. Yes uses some suplexes and decent kicks but nothing exciting. Quite standard stuff. Strickland carried this but his SWERVE CITY style has made him slow down a lot. When he did cool looking moves and flippy kicks it was fun but then he did dull submission moves to wear down his opponent. Match ended with controversy cause Strickland had his foot under the ropes but Knox counted three.
-BRIAN CAGE V JOHNNY MUNDO PCW TITLE: 7/10: Crowd did not care for cruiser match but came back alive in this match. Mundo and Cage know each other well cause they got all their moves in rather easily and looked nice. However, they worked a rather slow match. Made it hard to believe cage really had a chance. Both guys look insane live. Cage cause he is a walking roid and Mundo cause he is a handsome chiseled man. Solid main event but no were near caliber of 6 Man Tag. Mundo seems to play it safe in indys and does not go all out like in LU. Also this had a Knox ref bump and a low so yeah lame.
-OVERALL: 8/10: Looked I had a blast chanting, talking to random folks, explaining to my chica stuff and just going to a big indy event. However, the card itself was pretty sloppy and bad layout. First half was on pace to something great then second half was lackluster. Also INDY and JAPAN wrestling still have loads of DQs, interference, restholds, and old timers. I have no idea why we are so harsh on WWE, is it because it is televised every week and easier noticed? Anyhow my other complaint was the length of the show. It ran from 8PM until 11:15PM+ we left once main event was over but could hear Mundo cutting a promo. Please trim the fat. Sandman and Funk do not need to go 20+ mins, applause need to be shortened, not all matches need to further the story. Seeing loads of indy talent was sweet, guest appearance from Mack had me and brothers near me pop, being close to action was freaking awesome, and getting to see good wrestling in person is rewarding. PCW, I will return.
RANDOM NOTE: Some super hot curvy girl was in front of me and my gal. We kept checking her out wonder if her tits and ass were real. Unfortunately, no pic of the hot chick.
