TNA Joker$ Wild 3
Filmed on February 14th, 2015
Aired on Match 6th, 2015
From the Impact Zone at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida
Commentator: Josh Mathews and Jeremy Borash
Tonight sixteen randomly chosen tag teams comprising of all TNA superstars compete, with the eight winning teams members competing in a sixteen man over the top rope gauntlet match for a prize of $100,000.
Jeremy Borash and Christy Hemme welcome us to the show. They will be picking the teams at random out of one of those power ball tumbler things
Round 1
Robbie E & Jesse Goddard vs. Mr. Anderson & Al Snow
So not very random since Robbie and Jesse are normally tag team partners. Something must be up? This is the first time I've seen Anderson out of the WWE. He really didn’t seem to give a fuck. This was an okay match. It ventured into comedy territory quite a bit. There was one funny arm wrench bit with the Bromans. Josh commented that it was the best match of the night so far. I have to agree.
Winners: Robbie E & Jesse Goddard (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
DJ Z & Samuel Shaw vs. Rockstar Spud & Awesome Kong
Awesome Kong is the only person in this match I can take seriously. This was another joke-ish match with the three guys playing the role of being enamored with Awesome Kong in different ways. I do like Spud. This is the first time I've actually seen him. He reminds me of my friend Ted. This match was terrible though.
Winners: Rockstar Spud & Awesome Kong (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
After the match Spud and Kong share a kiss and Kong carried him off backstage.
Ethan Carter III and Tyrus are backstage and EC3 knows luck is on his side.
Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards vs. Austin Aries & Bobby Roode
So yeah, obviously Richards and Edwards are a tag team too. The bookers could have done better here. Maybe had one Bromans and one Wolf in the first match and the other two in this one? I gather from the commentators that in the past Roode and Aries were a tag team too. Anyway, this show has been a joke so far so it's good to see four legit guys in the ring. This match was obviously a hundred times better the previous two. But I've still seen better from all.
Winners: Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
Awesome Kong and Rockstar Spud are backstage. Spud is covered in lipstick kiss marks and seems smitten with Kong. She seems to be into it too. He offers to spend all the winnings on her.
Ethan Carter III & Crazzy Steve vs. Tyrus & Knux
There are a lot of guys in TNA that I don't see "it". But EC3 is tops on that list. He looks stupid. Here we have members of establish teams on each team (EC3 and Tyrus as “whatever”, Steve and Knox of the Menagerie). They at least tried to book some interest in this one. Tyrus and EC3 tried to reenact the "Finger Poke of Doom" but were thwarted by their own partners. There was some light comedy and some feigned turning on partners. But this much sucked.
Winners: Ethan Carter III & Crazzy Steve (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
James Storm and the Revolution are ready for tonight.
Eric Young & Bram vs. Magnus & Tommy Dreamer
Goddammit. I don't like Eric Young. But he has Jedi Knight logo patches on his jacket. So now I like him. This match wasn't too great. It was better than a few of the others for sure. I swear I heard someone in the crowd audibly yelling "this show sucks" after Dreamer attempted a People's Elbow.
Winners: Eric Young & Bram (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
The Wolves are happy with their earlier win.
Gunner & "Cowboy" James Storm vs. Kenny King & Sgt. Chris Melendez
Gunner and Storm seem to have some bad blood, as do King and Melendez. And yes, Melendez is the former American soldier who lost his left leg in the line of duty. Unlike Zach Gowan though he wrestled with a prosthetic leg. He really couldn't do much though. Not even bump properly. But I gather he'd only been training a short time.
Winners: Gunner & "Cowboy" James Storm (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
Eric Young and Bram don't care about money; they just want to hurt people.
Tigre Uno & Manik vs. Sonjay Dutt & Gail Kim
My god Gail looks good. I don't even care about this match. It actually could have been A LOT worse because of her inclusion. But she hung.
Winners: Sonjay Dutt & Gail Kim (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
The Great Sanada & Abyss vs. Lashley & Khoya
So the three guys in this match that aren't Lashley are members of James Storms "Revolution" stable. That's at least some somewhat creative booking. It led to pretty much a 2-on-1 handicapped match with Khoya refusing to tag in. There was a little fighting between the members of the Revolution but James Storm came down to break it up, and sent Khoya backstage. So then it was a 2-on-1 handicapped match. Not worth anything.
Winners: Lashley & Khoya (advance to the $100,000 Over-the-Top-Rope Gauntlet Match)
Recapping of the previous eight matches with some crazy canned crowd ambiance.
Jeremy Borash lays out this match. Two competitors start and every two minutes another competitor will enter. The only way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope. So it's the Royal Rumble but with only sixteen people.
$100,000 Over-the-Top- Rope Gauntlet Match
Featuring: Awesome Kong, Bram, Crazzy Steve, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Eric Young, Ethan Carter III, Gail Kim, Gunner, "Cowboy" James Storm, Jesse Goddard, Khoya, Lashley, Robbie E, Rockstar Spud and Sonjay Dutt
This really wasn’t too good. It was very predictable. When Awesome Kong came out at number one I thought to myself “I bet Gail Kim is number two”, and she was. When the Bromans came out at three and four I realized a pattern and sure enough the other established tag team in the match (the Wolves) came out at eight and nine. It just seemed very lazy. EC3’s actions annoyed the hell out of me. If he’s supposed to be a comical heel then he’s great in the role. But I think he was a top heel at the time and I hated him for the wrong reasons. The ending came really quickly and there was really no drama AT ALL.
Winner: Lashley
Jeremy Borash and Christy Hemme present Lashley with the cheque for $100,000.
Another recap of the entire show.
____________________________________________________________________________________
I don’t even like calling this a “pay per view” but apparently it was. I guess people actually paid for this? Someone correct me. I got the DVD as a part of one of the Don West “Insane Brown Bag” Specials. Twenty dollars for five DVDs, two t-shirts and three other items. So if you break it down this cost me two dollars and I think it may have been worth three. The concept was pretty fun…for one night only. There were times when they obviously through it out the window but had they not the entire card and show would've been a joke. But it still seemed lazy and half-assed to me.
I felt bad though for the wrestlers watching it. The entire show was heatless. I can’t remember many more quite crowds. I don't even know who were the "stars" because no one got better than a Conway pop. I guess Lashley was the big dog at the time? But they never even mentioned who was the champion at the time. If they did I didn’t hear it. It was like watching a small indy that booked a way too large venue and got televised. They all tried and worked with what they were given.
I’ve heard so many bad things about Josh Mathews but the commentary wasn't too bad. If the match was a joke they made fun of it. If a match was serious then they were serious. It was nice to hear some different voices. And it was nice to see some different faces. It may have been one of the worst “pay per views” I’ve seen in my life but I still had fun because it cost me next to nothing.
So now I'm left wondering one thing: did Lashley really get the money?
