I didn't even know there was an opening act until the day before the show. So I missed the Road Heavy, whoever the fuck they are.
The Tea Party were the first live band I ever saw, way back in 1995 at the Oshawa Civic Center. I didn't know they were playing their 1997 album 'Transmission' in full this tour (as a part of its twentieth anniversary) until a few weeks ago. I was fine with that even though I was never as big a fan of that album. My first girlfriend back in high school was a huge Tea Party fan and that album came out when we were dating so I heard it enough times. But I haven't heard some of these songs in almost twenty years. The singles are all great songs (Temptation, Babylon, Psychopomp) and the faster songs worked well live too but there were definitely a few crowd killers in there. It was a shitty, shitty crowd too. There was a lot of talking over the lesser songs. In a way I can't blame them. By the time intermission hit I wanted to hear some "other songs" too. Thankfully after the intermission they did just that and it was pretty awesome. I was glad I went but a greatest hits show would've been so much better than Transmission+. They have a lot of great songs that I know they’d play otherwise that didn’t get played tonight.
