The latest movie adaptation from Daniel Clowes (of Ghost World), stars Woody Harrelson. It was filmed of course in Minnesota including some scenes literally a few blocks away from my wife's duplex off West 7th Street in St.Paul.

Lego Batman

I saw that preview before we watched Sing today.  It was MUCH better than the one I saw in spring.  Robin and his costume had me legit laughing in my seat.

Is Rob Zombie directing any of them? lol
I actually liked the Friday The 13th movie from like.... 7 years ago or whatever... for... reasons...

No Rob Zombie just put out 31 and I don't believe he has any films being talked about.

YAY more Dan Clowes. Wish I had known who he was better when I met him years ago at a con.

But we have been hearing a new Friday film is coming for what 5 years now. Isn't Carpenter involved in the new Halloween?

John Wick Chapter 2 is easily the best US action movie made in fucking years.

I've seen Lego Batman twice and it's actually really good. The second time was better.

Two words: "Ironman sucks"

+ Great use of visuals
+ Interesting concept, a different path than most monster movies
+ Hot Asian chicks
+ An interesting story....
- But seemed watered down and could be been fleshed out a bit more
-Nothing memorable actor wise
-3D not worth the price

Overall it was good, a different approach to a monster movie. Could have been better if the story was explained in more detail but it was glossed over. But there was a good amount of good looking Asian women so that helped

Get Out

One of the most original horror movies I've ever seen. Brilliant stuff.

Some quickies.

The Lego Batman Movie:
+Pacing.
+Will Arnett was straight fire.
+Super clever, goddamn the references!
+Top animation.
+Type of humor used (Joker/Bats relationship)
+Superhero jabbed plot.
+Joker mannerisms.
+Batman music, as in when he sang/rapped/beat boxed.
-Not enough Bane.
-Soundtrack weaker than Lego Movies.
-Robin was solid but missed the mark like Bats.

Overall: 9/10 Not the Batman movie we deserved but the one we needed. Hot damn this was a very smart movie in how it uses all the material from films. Yes it has over the top stupid comedy in it but the adult themed jokes is where it is at. From the Joker/Batman relationship being gay oriented to villains from popular films showing up. I mean goddamn Jarritos gets name dropped in this. Also those Superman jabs. This is essentially a PG Deadpool with better joke execution.

Overall: 10/10 I really dont want to give anything away. Aside from one random trailer and Peele involvement I knew little about this. Hell I thought it looked whack. Well by god was I wrong. This was a very dark and real sick movie in terms of the content up for discussion. A modern Shinning with a comedy twist if you ask me. My heart was pumping when the film wanted it to and had me in stitches when it was appropriate. Once the credits started rolling I was speechless at the brilliance I just witnessed. Early MOTY for me.

2017 is off to a hot start. Must go see Spilt, John Wick 2 and The Girl with all The Gifts!

+Patrick Stewart.
+X-23.
+Setting and Plot.
+Slow burner and Tone.
+Proper use of R-Rating.
+Stand alone flick that does not need continuation of other X Men films.
+Action sequences were violent and well spread out.
+Some nice shots.
-Weak soundtrack.
-Aside from main 3 characters, the rest lacked depth.
-Villains were okay.
-3rd act felt rushed.
-Laura and Logan relationship was not as believable as Xavier and Laura's.

Overall: 9/10 An awesome film that did not feel like a typical superhero flick. Hell it was more like a western. The good guys, the bad dudes, the chase. This film is dark with a hint of humor. Logan is a broken man who wants to end his suffering. But what exactly does that mean, will he find rest? Like most films these days stick to that one teaser trailer that was released and go watch this. When the credits roll you will applaud the man that played The Wolverine for 17 years.
