I took my oldest son to see Power Rangers today. I won't lie, I kinda wanted to see it too. I didn't "grow up" with the Power Rangers since they came out when I was a teen but I sort of did. I had a mad crush on Amy Jo Johnson like every male did. She was the first celebrity fake nude I ever found on the internet.

It wasn't entirely bad. There were moments when it took itself a little too seriously but it wasn't as eye-roll worthy as the Transformers movies can get. There was a bit of comedy but nothing too funny. Rita Repulsa was maybe the funniest and you could tell there were moments where they wanted to do so much more with her in a comedic tone. And thankfully the cast wasn't overly sexed. They did a great job of being SJW by having all races and sexualities covered amongst the group, and they made sure to recast the African-American kid as Billy the Blue Ranger and the Asian kid as Zack the Black Ranger. Where the movie really faltered was the pacing. It was a two hour movie and while they "become the Power Rangers" within the first half hour they don't get the Power Ranger armor, the Zords or fight anything until the last twenty minutes. I get that a first movie in any series is usually a bit slower and more character building but this one was a bit excessive.

I still enjoyed it enough to give it a positive review. Alpha 5 was represented well and Bryan Cranston was fine as Zordon. And Amy Jo Johnson (who's still got it) and Jason David Frank (the original Green Ranger) make a brief cameo as citizens of Angel Grove. I'd like to see the series continue.

Beauty and the Beast 7.5/10 Solid reboot that looked great. Beast needed to CGI/practical effects though. Songs worked and had some decent laughts.

Kong Skull Island : 7.5/10 Really fun over the top cheese fest monster flick. Action sequences were dope as was the way they were shot. Cool kills. Had it had more depth would have been great.

Saw Get Out again. Still flawless. Attention to detail is awesoee, will be one of my faves for sure.

Want to see Power Rangers now damn it.

I took my kids to see Boss Baby today. I fell asleep three times.

Devil`s Candy :8/10 Standard possession movie but metal music theme and top notch acting and cinematography make this a fine film. Also its short and sweet. Needed more violence.

Your Name. 10/10 WOW! Don't watch much anime but damn this was beautiful. Great characters, very engaging story, amazing visuals. Must see. Came out last year technically but ranking it as a top 2017 movie.

Power Rangers: 5/10 This was simply too stupid and tried to be serious at the times. It lead lead to a dragged out first 1 hour+ then when the Rangers showed up it was weak sauce. Action had no kick to it then the movie ends. Visuals were okay and actors they got was fine, less cringy jokes though. Post credits is cool cause who doesnt dig Green Ranger. Movies going forward just need to find their tone and roll with it. Waste of Cranston, imma eat some Krispy Kreme now.

yeah, they really needed to trim...forty-five minutes off the first hour and a half of the Power Rangers.  It took way too long to get to the good stuff.

Took my oldest son to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 today. My expectations were so high after the first one that there was no way they could be met. That said; still a great movie and that franchise is still the best of the Marvel movies.

The tone was a lot more serious than the first one, which was fine.

I really liked Batista as Drax. And Yondu and Rocket were great too. But the highlight for me was any time Mantis was on-screen. She was so hot.

GOTG 2 Quick Review:

+Funny
+Tons of action.
+Character development.
+IMAX visual orgy.
+Strong main villian.
+Fast paced.
+Space is still badass.
+Funny as hell.

Overall: 10/10: Look every character nails it and feels so natural. Dont want to go into spoilers but damn that final act was beautiful and one character really shined. Drax stole the show comedy wise. Pratt is still a GAWD! Only negative is it was missing the magic of the first and MCU tie is lacking. GOTG was a grand slam, this was a home run.

It doesn't even feel like an MCU movie, it's so much better.  and yeah, the magic wasn't quite there because I never thought the first one would be so good.  I knew this would.

I prefer older Groot to Baby Groot, myself.

And I was trying to come up with a joke involving my penis and the inside of Mantis but I can't.  you get my point.  So hot.  played by a French girl, believe it or not.

Saw GoTG 2 again. The first time I saw it I had so much fun I did not realize how messy the first half was storyline wise. Similar format to Star Trek Beyond and Rogue One. But once it got going it was awesome. Other than that same feels as before. Really more a 9/10 but that cast is an 11/10

So I am a huge fan of all the Resident Evil movies. Love all of them. I was quite disappointed to see that apparently that whole franchise will be rebooted.

Seriously. The last one came out in 2016. Let it breathe for a minute.

Whoever plays Alice will have their work cut out for them. She was so great in that character. It's hard to picture anyone but Milla playing that character.

As a side note, I had no idea the 6 movies grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. I always thought it did good but not this good.

Wonder Woman Review:

Nothing to do with the movie but premiere screening for this at my theater was put in a small screen not the biggest one they got. What the hell.

+Gal Gadot as Diana.
+Chris Pine as Steve.
+Steve + Diana Chemistry.
+Story and character development set the tone well.
+Right amount of humor that clicked.
+Solid side characters.
+Plot was interesting enough.
+Multiple messages from this movie.
-Too much slow mo.
-Final act felt rushed.
-Bad CGI at times.
-More damn slow mo.
-Okay villain.
Overall: 8/10 Really good backstory flick with great performances from leads. Action would have made it better though if slow mo did not ruin it all. Last shot of film was cringy as well. DC has hope.

Screw your Aliens, your Wonder Womens, your Baywatches and your Pirates of the Caribbean; my oldest son and I went to see Capitan Underpants today. It wasn't too bad. I liked the animation style and the narrative from the two boys. And Capitan Underpants himself was pretty funny, as was the main villain. It was very quick and short but it maybe should have been quicker and shorter because it was losing the few kids that were there in quite a few places. Capitan Underpants wasn't in it as much as you'd think either and my son said he didn't really care for the parts that didn't have him, especially the beginning. But for a kids movie that I didn't even know was coming out and will bomb and be forgotten it was good enough.

Upon second viewing I am bumping WW to an 8.5. Gal Gadot is fucking bae.

RAW: 9/10 Simply put an artsy French cannibal coming of age film that was beautiful. The metaphors and brutality of this movie were so real. Damn fine acting. Sure it's really on the arthouse side of things and less horror but amazing flick none the less. Superb acting.

It Comes At Night: 8.5/10 Really well done thriller. Go in blind. No trailers, no quick summaries of an idea. Just know it is a dark future film about the end of the world. Excellent acting, story that sucks you, beautiful cinematography and score. Some questions go unanswered, slow burner, and sudden finish hold it back from amazing level. But the movie keeps you wanting to know what the hell is going on.

Actually Adam, reminds me of Walking Dead. You'd dig this film.

Cars 3 was bad until the final act dragged it down to terrible. 2/10

Beatriz at Dinner: 8/10 Nice, over-the-top drama that was rather dark. Had some spiritual stuff thrown in the dark comedy. Well acted and nice message that rich people suck.

Fate of the Furious: 7/10 Fun over the top stupid action film. Plot was obviously convoluted and had lots of flaws. But you come here for top notch car explosions, car chases, hand to hand combat and Rock bringing the Daddy jokes. Solid popcorn flick.
